Adult Summer Reading Club review

From Paulette Aspesi

Title/Author Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy by Sheryl Sandberg & Adam Grant

Book is told in Sheryl’s words with input from Adam. Tells of what she went through after the unexpected death of her husband and how hard it was for her to deal with it. With what this woman has, I felt she was wallowing in self-pity- she should have put her big girl pants & and worried more about how her reaction to what was going on affected her children. She had everything to survive & deal with what had happened to her, kids, loving family and friends, a good job, financial security. Good gosh, she’s COO of Facebook- I expected more from her. But the writing of this book did happen because of how she reacted, and I think it is a good book for all people to read, because all of us will suffer losses in life and this book provides ways of coping and also understanding that a lot of what you will go through is to be expected. How many stars does the book deserve? ☆☆☆

Adult Summer Reading Club review

From Diana Murphy

Title/Author
Once and for All/Sarah Dessen
I started reading Sarah Dessen in high school and never stopped. This book is classic Dessen, and actually one of her best books in awhile- definitely more memorable that her last few. The book alternates chapters between the story of something that happened in the protagonist’s past and the story of her present. The climax of the book as really powerful and then the ending dragged a little, but ultimately a job well done by the author and exactly what a reader of her novels has come to expect.
