Summer Reading Club reviews

From Robin Pierre

Sara and Eleanor / Ian Pottker

I enjoyed this book quite a bit considering that my first choice is usually a fiction book. It was interesting to learn about the Roosevelt family and their unique personalities. I was surprised to learn that Sara and Eleanor both took on many causes involving women’s issues. It was eye opening to find out that they were wealthier than I knew and that they had a number of homes. I liked learning about the relationship between Sara, Franklin and Eleanor. The beginning of the book is a little slow but it is well worth continuing the read.

Gabby /. Gabrielle Giffords and Mark Kelly

The book tells the story of Gabrielle and Mark and primarily the aftermath of the tragic shooting in Tucson. The story did share some of both of their backgrounds along with the struggles both endured navigating their way through the long rehabilitation process. The book was a reminder of how quickly one’s reality can change in an instant. It was a great book.
