Strengths Finder 2.0 Tom Rath
Strengths Finder is a national bestseller, that has hundreds of strategies for enhancing and applying your strengths. When you purchase the book you are also provided access to a world of resources on their website. My boss purchased this for all his Directors and I found it so insightful that I purchased it for my team. The underlying concept is that too often people focus on their weaknesses and overlook their strengths that can take them far. It also helps you structure a team where people compliment each other.

The Spiderwick Chronicles: The Ironwood Tree– Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black

This was book four of the chronicles. I hadn’t read the other three but had little difficulty getting into the story about the Grace twins, Simon and Jared, and their sister, Mallory who try to survive and win in the world of faeries, gnomes, and trolls. This is essentially a children’s book but the beautiful artwork drew me to it. The story was enchanting. I was very disappointed when I finished the book and found out I had to read book five, the final book in the chronicles, to learn what happens. I definitely recommend this Scholastic book.

Echo, Pam Munoz Ryan
The story begins with Otto, lost in a thick forest where he meets three mysterious sisters and gets entwined in a prophecy,a promise and a harmonica. Many years later three different children find themselves caught up in the same thread of destiny in the darkest days of the 20th during WWII struggling to keep their families together and tied together by the music of the same harmonica. It takes place in Germany,Pennsylvania, and California. Ms Ryan ties all situations together beautifully. This is truly a remarkable story. It’s considered juvenile fiction,so it’s a very easy read. I recommend this book.
