Summer Reading Club review

From Elaine Pasquali

The Clasp – Sloane Crosley
College friends, Victor, Nathaniel, and Kezia, reunite at the extravagant wedding of Caroline. Johanna, the groom’s mother, revives a drunk Victor and tells him the story of a valuable necklace that disappeared during the Nazi occupation of France. Victor becomes obsessed with the necklace and with Guy de Maupassant, author of the classic short story, The Necklace. Victor researches de Maupassant’s life and believes the necklace may be hidden at de Maupassant’s estate. Nathaniel and Kezia follow Victor through France as he searches for the ethereal necklace. Although the book was reviewed as humorous, for the most part, the dry humor was lost on me.
