Summer Reading Club Review: Big Little Lies

From Suzanne Laizik

Title: Big Little Lies

Author: Moriarty, Liane

This novel was fun, quick read, about serious and not-so-serious matters surrounding moms of kindergarteners in a small beach town. I like how it was structured (starting with a reference to a climactic event, then going back in time to narrate what led up to it), and the character development was sometimes quite spot on. Unfortunately, the plot was a little too tidy. “Bad guys” were punished appropriately and “good guys” were rewarded appropriately, everything tidily wrapped up at the end. A little too pat for my taste.
