The tiger’s wife

From Ellen Druda
author: Obreht, Téa
The tiger’s wife
Natalia, a young doctor on her way to help with inoculations at a children’s orphanage, tells us about her grandfather.  Like her, he was a doctor, and they were very close as she grew up.  She finds out about his mysterious death during her trip and goes off to start an investigation. The author interweaves this story with old folk tales, the encroaching war, and the strange characters Natalia meets, and creates a surreal experience for the reader with a mesmerizing, cinematic flair worthy of Fellini or Bergman.
