A Breath of Snow & Ashes

A Breath of Snow & Ashes
This is Gabaldon’s sixth book in her Outlander series.  Each book has an average of  900 or more pages, but as you read her very descriptive novel you can’t put it down and want to find out what happens next.  This is a realistic fiction about a time traveler, Claire who lives in the l960’s, who goes back in time.   She meets and marries,  Jamie Fraser, a Scottish highlander in the 1700’s.  It is a wonderful love story as well as a historical novel.  I recommend this series.

From Marie K. Schulken
In the past, I have always enjoyed this author’s books, however, this book was an exception.  It started out with a multi generational Southern family, and it followed a typical Anne Rivers Siddons’ story line.  However, at some point, our heroine marries an Irish professor deep into Celtic mysticism.  Their relationship starts out very special and then the whole story turns weird.  Much of what was really strange, was never really explained.  At this point, I was looking forward to the end of the book.  Definitely not a favorite.

Sarah’s Key

From Susan Martin
author: de Rosnay, Tatiana
Sarah’s Key
This is a very moving story about a part of World War II history which is unknown to many.  The Vel d’Hiv in France showed the part played by the French during this time.  Sarah and her family are arrested by the French police, and years later, another character and her family have become intertwined with Sarah’s past, which changes their future.
