Pearl in the Sand : a novel

From Ginny Pisciotta
author: Afshar, Tessa
Pearl in the Sand : a novel
This gripping novel is faithful to the biblical account while elaborating on the story of Rahab, a Canaanite prostitute in Jericho who aided the Hebrew spies, joined the Israelites, and went on to become the mother of Boaz (the husband of Ruth) and the great grandmother of King David. This book has it all – action, romance and deep spiritual insight.  My one gripe would be that at times you wished it didn’t take so long for Rahab and Salmone to understand each other (even after they married).

Sarah’s Key

From Gina Cortina
author: Rosnay, Tatiana de
 Sarah’s Key
I can honestly say this has become my new favorite book. I have always loved reading books about the holocaust. I find it amazing and shocking how Jews were treated. In this heart wrenching story, we see just how horrid the French police were during the ’round-up’ in 1942.  Sarah’s will make you cry, but her bravery will make you see just how determined she was too.

Split Second

From Marie Schulken
author: Coulter, Catherine
 Split Second
Another fast action thriller following the exploits of FBI agents, Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock as well as two new characters, Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight.  I thoroughly enjoyed the constant exploits of the agents in their pursuit of bad guys, the latest being the daughter of killer, Ted Bundy.  Lots of twists and turns and definitely kept my interest. Had difficulty putting it down.  Excellent mystery.

Silver Girl

From Marie Schulken
author: Hilderbrand, Elin
Silver Girl
I have read most of Elin Hilderbrand’s books and have thoroughly enjoyed them.  Silver Girl was no exception.  It is the story of a woman whose life has been suddenly impacted by a husband’s conviction of a Ponzi scheme (sound familiar). She needs to get out of the city and joins an old friend at her summer home in Nantucket.  What starts out being a season of hiding ends as a new beginning for this individual.  It was quite good.
