Skipping Christmas

From Elaine Pasquali
author: Grisham, John
 Skipping Christmas
This novel is a marked departure from Grisham’s other books.  Grisham uses Luther Krank’s (crank?)jaundiced eyes to take a tongue-in-cheek look at the frenzy, chaos, and commercialism surrounding Christmas.  With the departure of his daughter to Peru for a year in the Peace Corps, Luther convinces his wife to skip Christmas and take a cruise instead.  Luther’s attempts to march to a different drummer encounter obstacles, but will he utimately succeed?  To find out, you’ll have to read the book.  This book is not only a light-hearted summer read but the power of suggestion may also have a cooling effect on a hot summer day.
